Charlotte Town Party book sale ready for donations

July-1-CT-C-Book-Sale-C-copyThe Friends of the Charlotte Library is gearing up for the Town Party book sale on Saturday July 12 from 11am-2pm and would like to clarify the donation guidelines and book recycling information. It would be greatly appreciated if all donors would recycle unsaleable books before dropping off donations at the library.
Donations for the book sale:
1. Bring saleable books to the library during library hours.  Please do not leave donations outside the door when the library is closed.
2. Check with library staff to find out where to leave your donations and to preview for suitability if you are uncertain.
3. Request a donation receipt from library staff.
The Library is accepting donations now through Thursday, July 10. Book donations are what make the book sale the success it is! The Friends of Charlotte Library are dedicated to maintaining the high standard of quality that people have come to expect and thank you for your continued support of the sale. Following these simple guidelines will make this year’s sale the best ever.
What we cannot accept:
• Damp, moldy, and/or mildewed books
• Books in poor condition (missing pages/covers/underlined, yellowed, etc.)
• Reader’s Digest condensed books
• Textbooks
• Encyclopedias
• Magazines
Here’s what to do:
1. Throw out damp, moldy, mildewed, or stinky books in your own trash.
2. Recycle books that are in poor condition (see above) or are just generally out of date. Paperbacks can be recycled with your other recyclables or dropped off at a Chittenden Solid Waste (CSWD) drop-off site. Hard covers cannot be recycled with your regular recycling and must be dropped off at a CSWD drop-off site.
3. Goodwill on Shelburne Road (open every day) will take donations of most books, including textbooks, encyclopedias, and old books.
