The search for a town administrator for Hinesburg is over. Bright and early Sunday morning, current Assistant Town Manager of Essex, Trevor Lashua, officially accepted the Town of Hinesburg’s offer of employment.

“There are so many things to be excited about,” said Lashua. “I welcome the opportunity to serve Hinesburg. I look forward to working with the Selectboard, the well-respected town employees, and its involved citizenry to address the needs of this vibrant community. Involvement in the town was a big draw for me,” he shared.

An 11-member search committee – including Aaron Kimball, Melissa Ross, Ann Janda, Dawn Francis, Marie Gardner, Mary Hurlie, Frank Koss, Bob Rusten, and Renae Marshall along with Selectboard members, Phil Pouech, who served as selection committee chair, and Mike Bissonnette – was responsible for narrowing the pool of 50 and naming a replacement for three-year Town Administrator Joe Colangelo.

When asked about his replacement, Colangelo said “Trevor is a fantastic choice. He’s highly intelligent and one of the best all-around guys you’ll ever meet.”

A Vermont native, Lashua holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from Castleton State College and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Vermont. He served as a Management Intern in Barretown, Vt. and Senior Associate with the Vermont League of Cities & Towns before his four and a half year stint as Essex Assistant Town Manager.

A resident of Williston, Lashua begins his tenure in Hinesburg on Aug. 1. “I can’t wait to start my new position as Town Administrator of Hinesburg. I want to help the town balance future development with quality of life in an environmentally, appropriate, and respectful way. I am really excited about this opportunity.”
