The Champlain Valley Union (CVU) boys volleyball team had a successful second season. With only two returning players, senior Caleb Geffken and sophomore Jeffrey Boliba, “This new group of boys who had not played volleyball before now had a number of achievements this season,” said CVU head boys volleyball coach Jeff Boliba. “They learned how to play the game, helped me run Intro to volleyball clinics at local elementary and middle schools, learned a sophisticated 6-2 offense, grew together as a team, and finished the regular season with a 6-2 record.”
The CVU boys regular season record earned them a #2 seed and a bye heading into the state championship tournament. In the semifinal, the boys knocked out Enosburg Falls High School to advance to the title match against Essex High School. After a tough match, the Hornets defeated the Redhawks and claimed the crown.
“These boys played great and we got to bring home some hardware from the state tournament again,” informed coach Boliba. “I could not be more proud.”
