Allan Whayland’s seventh grade class at the Mater Christi School perform a play around the holidays each year. This year’s choice was William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Written by Shakespeare toward the end of the 16th century, the play features young lovers who fall comically in and out of love over the course of a single, enchanted midsummer night.

The audience, composed of seventh graders’ parents and students from other Mater Christi classes, was delighted with the romantic comedy. Six performances, three per seventh grade homeroom, were planned to accommodate everyone who wanted to see the play.

Younger audience members were probably as mesmerized by the lights and fog as much as by the wonderful performance. On the other hand, adults in the audience were impressed by the actors’ excellent interpretation of Shakespeare’s original words.
