The Champlain Valley Union School District Board announces the appointment of Adam Bunting, a native of Shelburne, to the position of Principal for Champlain Valley Union High School. Bunting graduated from CVU in 1994, and is a graduate of Connecticut College and Harvard University where he majored in English and School Leadership respectively.
Most recently, Bunting has served the community of Montpelier as the Principal of Montpelier High School where he worked collaboratively with faculty, staff, and community to create a renewed and energized focus on student learning grounded in theory and practice. Previously, he served as House Director at CVU where he was the Core Program Director, and led the Curriculum Clearing House and the English, Social Studies, and Science Departments.
The 13-member search committee was impressed with his genuine care and compassion for students and families as well as his passion for education. The picture that emerged as they met with students, faculty, staff, parents, and board members was that of an individual who is creative, thoughtful, collaborative, and able to systematically translate vision into practical reality–always focused on helping students understand themselves as learners.
The committee’s unanimous support for Bunting came after interviews and a site visit to Montpelier High School. Superintendent Elaine Pinckney recommended Bunting to the board at its March 17 meeting. The board accepted the nomination unanimously.
