Arline Lewis, age 85, lost her battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease on April 15, 2015. Arline is survived by her children, Ila Lewis and partner, James Thorpe, Betti Lewis and her partner, Nancy Palagano, Hugh Jr. and Leslie Lewis, Mary and Chris Boyd, and Cyril and Autumn Lewis; grandchildren, Alyssa and Jacob Oruoja, Alia and Charles Moore, Matt Lewis, Tyler Lewis, Morgan Lewis, and Cooper Lewis; and great-grandchildren, Nathan Oruoja and Teresa Oruoja. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Hugh Lewis Sr.; and her grandson, Caleb Lewis. Arline was born on Feb. 23, 1930, in Shelburne, to parents John and Inez Botala, and had seven siblings. She is additionally survived by brother, Rudy Botala and sister, Frederica Botala; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers, John, Arnold, Cyril, Frank, and Harold. Arline was a loving, supportive mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family and community. Arline was actively involved in the Charlotte Grange and other community activities for the majority of her life. She served as secretary and treasurer for many years. She enjoyed caring for her family and bird watching. Her family and friends will always remember her kindness, empathy, and spunk.
