Harold J. Driscoll, 96, of Hinesburg, died peacefully on Monday, May 18, 2015, in the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington. He resided with his son, Joseph and wife, Mary, and grandson, James. He was born in Burlington on April 29, 1919, the son of John and Eva (Tedford) Driscoll. He was educated in Burlington schools and served his country during World War II in the 12th U.S. Army Air Force, serving in North Africa, Corsica, and Italy. On Aug. 6, 1945, he was married to Priscilla Goodwin. She predeceased him in 1988. For over 23 years, he was in charge of buildings and grounds at Champlain Valley Union High School. Harold was a member of St. Jude’s Parish and, along with his brother, was one of the founding members of the Champlain Valley Road Runners, an affiliate of the Good Sam Campers Club. He was a former Deputy Sherriff and a member of the Chittenden County Sherriff’s Association, as well as a former Road Commissioner for the Town of Hinesburg. He is survived by his five children and their spouses, Patricia and Robert Lamoureaux of Shoreham, Marjorie Reposa of Burlington, Daniel and Anne Driscoll of Hinesburg, Timothy and Cindy Driscoll of Naples, Fla., and Joseph and Mary Driscoll of Hinesburg; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Driscoll of Essex Junction, and Pearle Goodwin of Woodsville, N.H.; one cousin, Olive Gilmond of Georgia, Vt.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, James, Orvis, Ceil and Theresa; and by his special friend, Audry Bull. Harold will always be remembered for his Irish wit and wisdom and his enduring love for family and friends. Those who wish may make contributions in his memory to St. Jude’s Parish.
