Three vehicles at NRG were shot with BB guns damaging windows and the body of one vehicle. CVU had about 20 windows damaged by BBs on June 30, police said.
Police Chief Frank Koss said he is personally offering a reward of $250 dollars for information leading to the identification and arrest of those responsible for the damage.
A silver Audi is suspected to be connected with the vandalism, Koss said.
In a Front Porch Forum post by Koss, he indicated teenagers are most likely the culprits. “I would like to point out that this is not an example of kids just being kids and their need to destroy property,” he said in the post. “I am asking parents to talk with your teenagers, and I would also ask that social media be checked for any postings about this crime.”
Koss has been outspoken in recent months following a fatal accident in town. “We tend to dance around things and not say what is really happening,” Koss said in a phone interview. “I felt like it’s time we all started talking.”
As for his most recent public comments about the vandalism, he said, “I am not sure if the teenagers in town are offended or not, but if my comments can help solve this problem, you bet I am going to talk about it.”
His Front Porch Forum post also said, “If the vandals turn out to be adults who were bored that night or had some vendetta, I will publicly apologize to all the teenagers for the assumptions I have made about this crime. But, I have to catch them first.”
