Champlain Valley Union High School had five finalists in Sen. Bernie Sanders’ annual State of the Union essay contest, which gave Vermont high school students the opportunity to write about the challenges facing the United States.  Late last week, Phil Fiermonte (far right), the senator’s state director, recognized their efforts. Fiermonte led a class discussion, highlighting the issues the CVU students wrote about.
