Family Fight – On Sunday, May 14, officers responded to a family fight call where a thirteen-year-old juvenile assaulted his stepmother. The situation was stabilized and the juvenile released to a relative’s custody. He was issued a citation to appear in Family Court.
Mental Health Issue – On Monday, May 15, officers responded to Sunset MHP for a 911 call where the caller stated that someone was trying to harm him. Upon arrival, he was not to be found and after an inquiry of the neighbors, the officers were told that he was in his residence. After several minutes of knocking and calling out, he subsequently came out and was talked into being transported to UVM for a mental health screening.
School Bus Crash – On Thursday, May 18, the Hinesburg Police, Hinesburg Fire and First Response responded to a one-vehicle, occupied school bus crash on Vermont Route 116 at Hickory Pl. Upon arrival, the high school students were off the bus and only one minor injury was reported involving the driver. The students were loaded on a bus and taken back to CVU, where they were released after all the parents were contacted.
Criminal DLS – On Friday, May 19, an officer was working traffic enforcement on Silver St. when he stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver, a 29-year-old female from Colchester, was determined to be driving on a criminally suspended license. She was arrested, brought to the station for processing, and released on a citation to appear in court.
