Richmond man charged in jewelry theft

A Richmond man has been arrested and charged in connection with a jewelry theft from a home in St. George last month.

Vermont State Police Monday said Charles Ring, 26, of Richmond, was arrested by troopers from the Williston barracks and charged with grand larceny. On Aug. 14, police received a report of jewelry stolen from a St. George home. There were no signs of a break-in, police noted.

The owner of the jewelry reported to police that she had located her missing jewelry at a local pawn shop. Police learned Ring falsely represented himself that he owned the jewelry when he sold it to the shop.

Police did not say how many items were involved in the case, nor did they say what the value of the stolen jewelry was. Police also did not reveal where the incident happened beyond the town of St. George as a location.

Ring is scheduled for a Nov. 14 hearing in Chittenden Superior Court, according to a police press release.
