This weekend is Youth Waterfowl Hunters’ Weekend

Young Vermonters age 17 and under can give waterfowl hunting a try this weekend, hunting ducks and geese in the Lake Champlain and Interior Vermont waterfowl hunting zones (15 and under in the Connecticut River zone).

According to Vermont Fish and Wildlife officials, the youth hunter must have a Vermont hunting license and must be accompanied by an unarmed adult, 18 or older, who also has a Vermont hunting license. Youths 16 and 17 must have state and federal duck stamps; the accompanying adult may not hunt waterfowl or carry a firearm while with the youth who is hunting waterfowl.

Ducks and geese may be taken by youth hunters on Saturday and Sunday according to the bag limits set in the 2017-2018 Syllabus of State and Federal Hunting Regulations for Migratory Birds in Vermont, available from Vermont U.S. Post Offices, Fish and Wildlife offices, and as a downloadable file from vtfishandwildlife.com.
