Boys in grades 5-8 interested in winter basketball can try out this weekend at Champlain Valley Union High School. The Mini Metro league is a competitive basketball league with teams from area high school districts. The season runs from early November through mid-February, with one or two practices during the week and Sunday games. Practices begin after Oct. 10.
Boys and girls teams are fielded for a 5th-6th grade division and a 7th-8th grade division. The CVU teams are made up of players from Charlotte, Hinesburg, St. George, Shelburne, and Williston. Scholarship funds are available for players in need of financial support.
Tryouts will be held at the CVU gymnasium for grade 5-6 boys on Saturday 3-5 p.m. and Sunday 10-11:30 a.m. For grade 7-8 boys, tryouts are Saturday 6-8 p.m. and Sunday 1-2:30 p.m.
Players are asked to preregister online and are required to attend at least one tryout to be considered for a team. Information and registration: sites.google.com/site/cvuminimetro
