Sandi Earle, executive chef of Sodexo dining at Champlain College, will publish her first cookbook, “My 30 Year Love Affair with Food and Vermont,” the Queen City Brewery edition, Friday at a special fundraising event from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Champlain Room in the Center for Communication and Creative Media Building on campus.
Earle has been feeding Champlain students for 14 years, and working on her cookbook for the past two years. She developed a beer-themed 25-recipe book by tasting beer from Queen City Brewery and thinking about what flavors and dishes would best compliment the drink.
The cookbook was a collaborative effort by many at Champlain College including photographer Mike Jacob who heads the equipment rental house. Student Emma Reed designed the cookbook and Earle’s website, along with a logo and marketing materials. Tiffany Harbretch marketing edited along with Earle’s longtime friend Jane Milizia.
The Friday release party is open to the public with beers to taste from Queen City Brewery and snacks from eight of the book’s recipes. All proceeds from a silent auction and 75 percent of the ticket sales will go directly to the Vermont Family Network. “I wanted it to do some good for our community,” Earle said.
