Credit union’s blanket drive, donation help the needy

Through Dec. 31, New England Federal Credit Union’s 19th annual blanket drive is on at all of its locations to collect new and gently used blankets for area community organizations to distribute to help Vermonters in need.

Blankets will go to the Committee on Temporary Shelter, Spectrum Youth & Family Services, Samaritan House, and other organizations.

The drive fits in with the credit union’s mission which includes having made a $20,000 to donation to COTS last month. Rita Markley, COTS executive director said the credit union’s support “makes it possible for COTS to provide families and individuals facing the crisis of homelessness this winter with shelter, services, housing, and homelessness prevention. We are extremely grateful for NEFCU’s longtime, ongoing commitment.”

For the blanket drive, people may drop off at any NEFCU branch. Blankets will be cleaned and packaged by Greer’s Professional Fabricare Services.
