Green Mountain Club plans two January group hikes

The Green Mountain Club has two January snowshoe hikes planned on upcoming Saturdays.

Jan. 20 to Butler Lodge
Starting from Stevensville in Underhill, it will take the Nebraska Notch Trail to the Long Trail, then follow it to Butler Lodge and return along the Butler Lodge trail. Moderate snowshoe. Moderate to strong pace. 6.2 miles. 1,700-foot elevation gain. To join, contact David Hathaway, david.hathaway.78@gmail.com or 899-9982.

Jan. 28 to Duxbury Window
This Long Trail hike starts at the trailhead on Duxbury Road near the Winooski River at the lowest point on the Long Trail. The trail follows Bamforth Ridge, one of the flanks of Camel’s Hump. Winter-like weather and great views guaranteed (or, possibly no views if the weather fails to cooperate) 3.2 miles. 950-foot elevation gain. To join, contact Ted Albers, ted@ted-albers.net.
