Borrowing a line from “Romeo and Juliet,” the Vermont Shakespeare Festival’s Vino and the Bard fundraiser this Sunday at ArtsRiot calls supporters to “Come and crush a cup of wine.”

The clever event pairs wine-tasting with scenes from Shakespeare’s works showcasing the group’s actors and the wines from Shelburne Vineyard. Expect to see comic and serious scenes from iconic plays featuring Romeo and Juliet, Titania and Bottom and “some rascals from Julius Caesar,” the troupe promises in its announcement.

Wine will be presented before each scene. Hors d’oeuvres will also be served. Silent auction items include Boston Celtics tickets, certificates to local restaurants and a chance to appear in a play.

Proceeds will help fund a year-round season that includes a summer production of “The Taming of the Shrew.”

Tickets: $40 at the door or online at vermontshakespeare.org/buy-tickets.html. Doors at 4:30 p.m.; performance and wine tasting at 5 p.m. ArtsRiot, 400 Pine St., Burlington. Information: vermontshakespeare.org.
