Shelburne Zumba to boost adaptive sports program

The Shelburne town gym will be hopping Saturday with a Zumba fundraiser to support Friends of Stowe Adaptive Sports.

The One Zumba Love dance party starts at 1:30 p.m. and goes to 3 p.m. A $20 suggested donation will be collected at the door. Bring athletic shoes and a water bottle.

The event will kick off with a free Zumba clinic for people with disabilities from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the same location.

Zumba fitness combines Latin and international music with a dance workout.

Local instructors Jennifer Niles, Simone Youkel and Regina Patterson are volunteering to lead both the dance and the clinic and invite participants to collect donations from friends and family.

Donations will benefit Friends of Stowe Adaptive Sports, a Vermont non-profit founded in 2010 on the belief that access to sports and recreational programs helps people with disabilities to develop independence and physical and mental well-being. The group sponsors participation in adaptive sports and recreational programs for people with disabilities. It also provides scholarships, specialized adaptive equipment and grants to support advanced training for adaptive coaches with partner organizations. Information: Eileen Casey, 238-4947
