Shelburne player gets a taste of NCAA tournament

Shelburne native Emily Kinneston’s March Madness ride is over.

Kinneston’s American University team fell to No. 3 UCLA 71-60 in the first round of the NCAA Division I tournament on Saturday in Los Angeles.

Kinneston, the team’s leading scorer, was held to two points and six assists in the loss, but the Patriots finished the year with a 26-7 record overall and a 16-2 mark in the Patriot League.

UCLA advanced to the second round of the tournament, where it defeated Creighton 86-64, and now heads to the Sweet Sixteen.
