State police investigate theft aboard Charlotte ferry

State Police are investigating a theft aboard the Charlotte-Essex ferry that happened last Tuesday afternoon.

The Lake Champlain Transportation Company’s ferry was traveling from Essex, N.Y., to Charlotte when cash from its cash drawer was stolen, police said.

The cash register in the lounge of the ferry was left unguarded for a period of time during which ferry staff said a passenger managed to steal an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police have not made any arrests in the case yet.
