State police were called to U.S. Route 7 last Thursday night when a tractor-trailer slid off the road and landed on its side.
The accident happened just before 9 p.m. when truck driver Christopher Fionda was northbound on Rt. 7 near State Park Road, state police in New Haven reported. The truck was going about 45 mph when it drifted outside the travel lane towards the right and went off the roadway, police said.
The truck came to rest on its side adjacent to the highway, police said. Fionda, 62, of Swanton, was not hurt.
The road was reduced to one lane of travel for several hours while the vehicle was removed. The road was wet at the time of the accident and it was raining, police said.
The Vermont State Police were assisted on scene by members of the Williston Police Department, Charlotte, Shelburne and Ferrisburgh fire departments and Charlotte Rescue.
