Get ready to commute to work or school on your bike

Local Motion’s expert workshop leader and daily bike commuter, Peter Burns, hosts a session April 19 to get local riders ready to commute to work or school by bike. The bicycle commuting workshop will be held at Jericho’s Deborah Rawson Memorial Library from 7 to 8 p.m. Topics to be covered include:

• What gear you need (and don’t need) to stay safe and comfortable
• How to make sure your bike is in good shape for commuting
• How to map out a route to fit your available time and comfort level
• How to “read” the street and ride safely under a range of conditions

Participants will also have the opportunity to purchase significantly discounted safety gear such as bike lights, reflective leg bands and bells. Light refreshments will be provided but this will be a waste-free event; bring a bowl and mug.
