An overturned tractor-trailer truck blocked Route 7 after it collided with a car in Ferrisburgh Wednesday, April 11.
Traffic was blocked in both directions and police had to set up a detour for drivers between 12:50 p.m., when the crash occurred, and 5 p.m.
The accident happened as the tractor-trailer truck was headed north, Vermont State Police said, and John Prushko, 63, of Middlebury was traveling south in his red Volkswagen Jetta.
The police report alleges Prushko’s vehicle crossed into the northbound lane, striking the rear of the truck, and the impact caused the truck to overturn.
Prushko was taken to the hospital, where police reported he was in stable condition.
The truck driver Alfred Williams, 24, of Waterbury, Conn., was not injured. Both vehicles were demolished.
Vermont State Police investigated the crash. Fire and rescue squads from Charlotte, Ferrisburgh, Vergennes and Bristol assisted, as did the Addison County Sheriff’s Department and the Vermont Agency of Transportation.
