Dedicated staff, volunteers pulled together in the storm — Lee Krohn

To the Editor:

The intense storm that rolled through Shelburne on the evening of May 4 showed how dedicated our town staff and mutual aid partners are, responding whenever and wherever needed, to serve our community. It shows how much we can accomplish when we are all working together.

Indeed, crews from both Shelburne and Charlotte Volunteer Fire Departments left in the middle of our annual banquet to respond to the incident, and didn’t even get to finish their dinner until late that night. Hinesburg Fire helped cover Charlotte while their crews were helping us. Highway, wastewater, police, and others were out there at the height of the storm and into the next morning to help keep us safe, and keep our essential systems functioning properly.

Others, such as our water department staff and rescue squad, are always on call in case they are needed, as well.
In addition, hidden behind the scenes but no less important, were our dispatchers, who handled an astounding number of calls that evening on all manner of issues.
Thank you all for your hard work and dedication to our community.
