Driver from New York charged with speeding on Route 7 in Charlotte

A New York City man was taken into custody after state police say his vehicle exceeded the speed limit on Route 7 by more than 30 mph.

The traffic stop happened May 2 at 12:39 a.m., state police said. A trooper observing Route 7 traffic spotted a vehicle heading northbound in Charlotte and measured its speed at 86 mph in a 50 mph zone, according to a state police news release.

Trooper Justin Wagner stopped the vehicle driven by Andrew Davis, 23, of Queens, N.Y. Davis was taken to the Williston State Police barracks and charged with excessive speed and negligent operation. He was cited to appear in Chittenden County Superior Court on July 24 to answer to the charges.
