Vermont author discusses her introduction to modern druidry

Phoenix Books Essex welcomes author Fearn Lickfield of Worcester, Vt., next week for a talk on “The Bardic Book of Becoming, an Introduction to Modern Druidry” that she co-wrote with her late husband Ivan McBeth.

Lickfield has titled her presentation “A Druid’s Legacy,” because she will share many of McBeth’s stories, poetry and observations from his lifetime and his time as a Druid.

“The Bardic Book” is an eclectic introduction to modern Druidry in which McBeth, who died in 2016, introduces various Druid techniques and practices, lessons, rituals and stories. McBeth was the cofounder of Vermont’s Green Mountain School of Druidry and he included in this volume various activities and exercises for readers new to Druidry. He also was a Druid in the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids. McBeth and Lickfield founded the Green Mountain Druid Order, a modern mystery school based in Worcester.

Modern Druidism draws its inspiration from the pre-Christian ancient Celtic religion of the British Isles.

The presentation is Tuesday, May 29 and 7 p.m. Free. Phoenix Books Essex is at 2 Carmichael St. in Essex. Copies of “The Bardic Book of Becoming” will be available. Information: 872-7111 or online at phoenixbooks.biz.
