The Champlain Valley Union girls junior varsity A lacrosse team finished the season last week with a 10-3-1 record. Coach Kelly Spreen kept the team focused particularly through a tough late-season schedule that included back-to-back road games in Brattleboro and Hanover, N.H.  The Redhawks’ powerful offense was led by Lauren Regan (19 goals), Talya Masson (16 goals) and Anna Pelkey (12 goals). Midfielders Makayla Urie (7 goals) and Maggie Warren (3 goals) were particularly skilled at controlling possession and creating transition opportunities for the offense. Grace Buzzell anchored a tenacious defense ahead of goalies Lena Ashooh and Kayla Howatt; speedy defenders Edie Wright and Gillian Magnier worked to keep the defensive zone clear. Fans and boosters look forward to watching members of this talented team move up through the ranks. (Left to right) Coach Spreen with team captains Grace Buzzell, Lauren Regan and Maggie Warren.
