The Charlotte Shelburne Hinesburg Rotary took part in Shelburne Day festivities on Aug. 18. Right, Al Gilbert of Charlotte cooks up some hot dogs and hamburgers. Above left, Shelburne Cadet Firefighter Lauryn Ouimet pulls the ripcord releasing 1,075 golf balls from a WWII Army duffle bag suspended 50 feet above the Shelburne Little League field. Rotary club members sold raffle tickets matching numbered balls to compete for cash prizes. Winners were Geraldine Bloomberg, whose ball was closest to the hole; Bill Root and Julie Gaboriault’s came second and third closest; Lisa Steele’s ball was farthest. The club netted $5,500 for its many community service projects. Above right, fireworks lit up the sky at Vermont Teddy Bear factory following a picnic and concert on the lawn.
