Police investigating death of fisherman at Lake Iroquois

The state medical examiner’s office has ruled that the death of an Essex fisherman at Lake Iroquois last week was accidental.

Kyle E. Ebbett, age 45, was fishing at Lake Iroquois Oct. 15 and was reported missing when he did not return home as expected, according to local police.

First responders from Williston, Hinesburg, Charlotte and Shelburne were called to the lake shortly before 8 p.m. after receiving the report.

Ebbett was found deceased in shallow water near his capsized boat, police said.

Police said Ebbett had a cell phone and a life vest, and that his death appeared to be an accident.

Following an autopsy, the office of the state’s chief medical examiner issued a report this week. It listed Ebbett’s death as accidental following “possible seizure activity.”
