Seniors organization plans free Christmas dinner

Area seniors can make reservations now to attend or have delivered a free Christmas dinner organized by several local agencies and businesses.

Along with Age Well, the Burlington School Food Project, the Elks Lodge, Penny Cluse Café, Temple Sinai and others, Helping and Nurturing Diverse Seniors is offering both a delivered hot meal and a sit-down dinner on Christmas Day. Executive Director Megan Humphrey estimates that the effort will provide at least 500 meals this year.
The free dinner will be served from noon to 3 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 925 North Ave. in Burlington. It will include live music and a raffle. Seniors needing transportation may call Megan Humphrey at 864-7528 or email
