The second annual Vermont Birdie Bash, a family-friendly fundraiser to benefit the youth served by Essex CHIPS, will be held on Sunday, Jan. 27, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Albert D. Lawton School, 104 Maple St., Essex.
Essex CHIPS – Community Health Initiatives & Programs for Students – has been serving the youth and families of local communities for more than 30 years.
The Jan. 27 event provides an indoor retreat for badminton players of all ages and skill levels with three hour-long tournaments and a ceremonial Czar for each.
There are 36 team slots with three players per team. Pre-registration is required. Teams registered by Sunday, Jan. 20, and teams that procure at least $30 of donations and pledges will receive extra raffle tickets for multiple raffle prizes valued at almost $1,000.
At least 30 trophies will be awarded to tournament winners, teams and players who display excellence in team spirit, costuming, extraordinary effort, and other categories to be announced.
There is no registration fee, but players are asked to procure pledges and donations to support local youth programs.
