Just after Hinesburgh Public House closed Sunday night, a motorist slid through the intersection of Vermont Route 116 and Mechanicsville Road, coming to a stop after crashing into the pub’s handicapped-access ramp. The driver, 34-year-old Travis Jewell of Richmond, was not seriously injured. Police said Jewell was headed westbound on Mechanicsville Road at the time. The restaurant was open Monday and owner Will Patten said the landlord had already checked out the damage to plan for repairs soon. The handicapped access was destroyed, he said. “Fortunately, it didn’t take out our main entry.”
Public House staff can help anyone needing assistance navigating the entryway until the ramp is rebuilt, he added.
